Expired Food Is it safe?
We often underestimate the expiration date on a food product or due to the condition of the food is still good. Indeed, as we rarely read or hear the news about the mass poisoning due to consumption of expired products purchased at the store or market. Consumers are at most only a letter of complaint because the newspaper through product purchased was already expired, defective, or damaged.
The expiration date is the information from the manufacturer to the consumer, which states limit or time limit the use of the most good ( quality ) and safest ( health ) of a food or beverage product. This means the product has only consumed eligibility until the deadline. If the product is consumed after the expiration date or even past the expiration date will be harmful to health.
Writing an expiration date on food products is usually placed after writing expiration date ( the expiration date ) or Best used before ( well used before ), a code indicating the date, month, year. How penulisannnya often vary, eg in the form of code : 031 214 , abbreviated : December 3, 14 , or complete : December 3, 2014. Inclusion of an expiration date on the packages are usually directly related to the product, on the cap and neck of the bottle, or on the lid and bottom of the can. Therefore, we must carefully seek out let and read the expiration date.
Products particularly from overseas often display hints with some terms that can cause confusion . Suppose there until the term Display, Sell by, Use by, or Best before. The most important thing you notice is the term Use by. Never try to consume products that have passed after the date shown by the writings Use. If you come across a product that was sold after that date passes and still sold, please let the seller immediately to withdraw the product from sale. In contrast to the term Best before. Products that have passed this date may still be consumed but it is not as fresh or as good if consumed before date stamped. But keep in mind, there are some products that are harmful if taken past the date of Best before. Suppose eggs that have passed the Best before date will be dangerous because eggs can contain Salmonella bacteria.
Use by the term is usually used for products that have a short expiration period, such as pasteurized milk products, soft cheeses, and prepared foods. While the term is often used to Best before the products that have longer survival, such as frozen food, canned food, or dry food.
While the term Sell -by and display until commonly used by certain stores to remind the sales staff about the time when they had to withdraw the product from sale. Thus, this term does not always exist on the products sold. Sell products that cross the line by actually well over the limit has not sold during the Use by or Best before.
